Frequently Asked Questions.

What are your Covid-19 protocols?

All visits are by appointment only to ensure one client at a time. Any indoor tours will require a mask of your own, hand sanitizer will be provided. The household and shared surfaces such as beds and blankets are kept clean and tidy at all times. We are limiting external items entering our home. Only collars and any daily dietary needs are required. We have plenty of toys, beds, and leashes that are sanitized regularly. Covid-19 protocols must be adhered to.

How do we know if we are a good fit?

For first time customers a meet and greet visit is included free of charge and scheduled prior to any expected services. Meetings will be done in our fenced yard. We can provide a leashed and controlled encounter for your dog to meet any family members, furry or otherwise, to ensure a positive experience for all involved. An unleashed experience can then follow once the situation is deemed safe and comfortable for your visiting pet.

Are vaccinations required? Which ones?

We require all vaccinations to be up-to-date. Proof of vaccination must be emailed to wallisboarding@gmail.com or delivered in person during our scheduled meet and greet. Please be sure to vaccinate for Rabies, Distemper Adenovirus, Bordetella. We also recommend being up to date with any flea, tick or mite treatment as a preventative measure. Do you administer medications?

We are fully capable of administering most types of medications. Please provide detailed instructions. Any complicated medications will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis to determine our ability to administer.

Are walks or hikes included in overnight stays?

A 1-to-2 hour hike/walk is provided daily, rain or shine, along with plenty of yard time with play and activities. As we experience more harsh winters, there may be occasions where taking dogs out for the usual 1-to-2 hour hike may be deemed unsafe. You will be informed if any walks are cancelled and we will do our best to provide exercise and stimulation through other means.

Do you board cats?

Cats will not be boarded in our home, however, we do provide a pet sitting service. Cats will remain in their own space and we will check on them daily for a minimum 1-hour visit to tend to their needs.

Will you visit my cat multiple times a day?

Typically, we will visit a cat’s home once a day for an hour. However, for those who require more specialized care, we can adjust the schedule, within reason, for any additional care requirements. In some cases additional charges may occur.

When do I pay?

For overnight services, a deposit of 35% of the full bill is due at booking to reserve the dates. Balance is due at the beginning of the pet’s care and any additional charges are due upon completion of care.

Daycare services require payment upon pick-up unless multiple bookings occur in a calendar month, in which case arrangements can be made to invoice at the end of the month, payment is due upon receipt of invoice.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations must be made 48 hours prior to appointment dates for a full refund. For cancellations made after 48 hours to appointment dates, deposit will be non-refundable. Cancellations must be made electronically for an appropriate date stamp.

Do you offer tours?

Tours can be scheduled along with a meet and greet to verify that your pet and our household are a good match for our services. All Covid-19 protocols must be observed.

What if my dog is uncomfortable around other dogs, children or cats?

If you are aware of any behavioral tendencies your pet has with children, cats or other dogs, then unfortunately our services will not be a good fit. We do not separate visiting dogs from the rest of the household, for this reason they should be well tempered and accustomed to such an experience.
Our cats are very comfortable with other animals and while an initial introduction may encounter a hiss or two we are confident in their ability to settle quickly.
Our daughters have been taught from birth how to give animals space and how to remain calm and caring around pets. All interactions will be strictly supervised.
If you are uncertain about your dog’s behavior towards such experiences then this will be determined at our scheduled meet and greet under controlled conditions.

Do you offer grooming services?

We do not offer any grooming onsite, however if you would like us to bring your pup to a grooming appointment prior to picking them up from us, we can accommodate this request provided appointments are in Nelson, BC. Any grooming fees will be tacked onto your invoice along with a $15 service fee.

Where will my dog sleep?

Guest dogs become a part of our household and are given the option to sleep where they feel they are most comfortable. Numerous options are provided such as blankets, beds and comfy furniture.
